Before you start
- Administrator access to your WordPress site (you will upload a plugin).
- A VelBEE workspace and the settings permission.
- A form made with Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Elementor or Ninja Forms.
What it works with
Contact Form 7, WPForms, Gravity Forms, Elementor forms and Ninja Forms. Other form plugins can use their webhook option with the same address and key (see the webhook guide).
The five steps
Add a WordPress source in VelBEE
In your workspace open Connect, press Add a source and choose WordPress. Copy the source address and the key. The key is shown only once, so keep it safe.
Download and install the plugin
Download VelBEE Connect
In WordPress open Plugins, Add New, Upload Plugin, choose the file you downloaded, then Install Now and Activate.Paste the address and key
Open Settings, VelBEE. Paste the source address and key, tick the form plugins you use, and press Save.
Send a test lead
Press Send a test lead. It should appear in VelBEE within a moment. The settings page shows the result of the last send.
Optional: show a VelBEE form on a page
Make a Website form source for the page form, paste its form address in the plugin settings, then add
[velbee_form]to any page.
More than one form plugin
If you use two form plugins, tick both in the plugin settings. Each submission is sent once.
What the plugin sends, and what it does not
It sends the answers visitors type into your forms, the form’s name, the page address and, if you leave campaign tracking on, the campaign details stored in a cookie on your own site for 30 days. It never sends passwords, card details, uploaded files or security tokens. Nothing is sent until you enter an address and key, and it can only send to a VelBEE source address.
Warning
The plugin is installed by upload for now. A listing on the WordPress.org plugin directory is planned but has not been submitted yet.
What you will have at the end
- The VelBEE Connect plugin installed and switched on, with your source address and key saved.
- Every submission from the form plugins you ticked arriving as a lead, with its source and campaign.
- A “last result” line on the settings page that tells you whether the latest send worked.
Troubleshooting
| What you see | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| “Refused (401)” in the last result | The key is wrong, or it was renewed in VelBEE. | Copy the current key from the source in VelBEE and paste it again. A renewed key stops the old one at once. |
| “Could not reach VelBEE” | Your site’s server blocks outgoing requests. | Ask your hosting provider to allow your site to call api.velbee.com over HTTPS. |
| The plugin says sent, but no lead appears | The submission was refused, for example it had no phone number or email. | Open the source’s Activity tab in VelBEE. It gives the reason for each refusal. |
| “Please give a phone number or an email address” (422) | The form has neither field. | Add a phone or email question to the form and make it required. |
| My form plugin is not in the list | Only the five plugins above are supported by the plugin. | Use that plugin’s webhook option with the same address and key. See Zapier, Make and n8n. |
| Leads have no campaign | Campaign tracking is switched off, or the visitor did not arrive from a link with campaign details. | Leave campaign tracking on in the plugin settings. Details are kept in a cookie on your own site for 30 days. |
